Staghorn Fern Care
Congratulations on your new staghorn fern! These beauties make any space feel lush and vibrant. Staghorns will grow happily for years if you give them the right amount of light and water. Follow these basic tips and enjoy your plant for years to come.
FROND CARE: Never remove the round, plate-like leaves at the base of the plant. It is healthy and natural for these to turn brown. Also, don't try to remove the brown "fuzz" on antler fronds, these are the plants spores.
LIGHT: Bright, indirect or diffuse light.
MIST: Staghorns love humidity. Spritz the entire plant daily with a mister or place a humidifier nearby.
WATER: Place plant under gently running water until root ball is saturated. Be careful to allow cedar block to dry before hanging back on wall. Water once a week during warm, sunny seasons and every two weeks during cool, darker seasons.
TROUBLESHOOTING: Over-watering can cause antler fronds to turn brown or black at the base. Antler fronds that wilt or turn brown at the tip are a sign of under-watering. If your staghorn isn't thriving, try changing one element of care at a time until you find the perfect conditions for your plant.
